Sihvonen, Tanja

Tanja Sihvonen is professor of communication studies at the University of Vaasa. Her research focuses on the relationship between humans and media technology from the perspective of, for instance, digital games, internet cultures, social media, and bots. She is interested in audiovisual analysis methods and the datafication and politicization of social media platforms. In 2024-26, she leads Vaasa's research team in a consortium project SYNTHETICA (Multifaceted Ripple Effects and Limitations of AI-Human Interplay at Work, Business, and Society), funded by the Research Council of Finland.
