Sihvonen, Tanja

Tanja Sihvonen is professor of communication studies at the University of Vaasa, Finland. She is specialised in digital media, games, and internet cultures. Her most recent research considers role-playing games, the uses and misuses of social media, and interaction with robots and social bots. In the past years, she has been affiliated with a number of research projects, such as Talking Machines (Kone Foundation, 2018-22), Short-form Videos and Journalism (Helsingin Sanomat Foundation, 2022-24), and the multidisciplinary Conceptualizing Blockchains (CoBlo, 2018-).
