Professor Mohammed Salem Elmusrati is a Full Professor of Telecommunication, Automation, and Intelligent Systems at the University of Vaasa, Finland. With over 30 years of academic and research experience, he has established himself as a leading scholar in wireless communications, smart systems, and artificial intelligence.
Professor Elmusrati earned his Doctor of Science in Technology from Aalto University (previous name: Helsinki University of Technology) in 2004, with pioneering work on radio resource scheduling and smart antennas in mobile networks. His academic journey began in Libya, where he completed his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Benghazi University. Elmusrati started as sensior lecturer with the University of Vaasa in 2004. Currently he leads the international master program of Sustainable Autonomous Systems (SAS) as well as coordinator of the school research team of the Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS). His research spans machine learning applications, stochastic systems, 5G/6G networks, wireless automation, smart grids, biotechnology, and digitalization. Professor Elmusrati has published over 190 scientific papers, books, and chapters. His contributions have been recognized with awards, including the Innovation of the Year Award (2024) at the University of Vaasa. Professor Elmusrati’s work continues to bridge theory and application, advancing the role of AI and intelligent systems in communications, healthcare, and sustainable energy.
