Cheas, Kirsi

I'm a postdoctoral researcher supported by the Kone Foundation (2024-28) and the Research Council of Finland (2021-24). My research focuses on cross-field collaboration in investigative journalism across regions of the Global South and the North. The geopolitical focus of my project is on the US-Mexico (Global North-South) border. My interdisciplinary research is situated at the intersection between journalism and communication studies and area and cultural studies. I received my PhD at the University of Helsinki in 2018 (Latin American Studies, journalism studies). Between November 2021 and October 2023, I was a visiting scholar at New York University's Department of Media, Culture, and Communication.
